Activities in the Area
The massive reef running parallel to the beach provides natural protection against the strong waves at high tide and forms several small pools at low tide. Snorkelling and diving are much enjoyed during low tide.
Deep-sea fishing is excellent at Xai Xai and shore fishing is good at certain times of the year, especially from May to July, which is Kingfish time. Fly-fishing can also be enjoyed from the reef that protrudes from the sea, giving the fisherman a great chance to fly-fish in deeper water.
There are a number of fresh water lakes within 30 minutes drive where kayaking; paddle Skiing and windsurfing can be enjoyed. Wenela Tidal Pool, two kilometres South is a fascinating natural treasure having a natural tunnel and blow hole linking the pool to the sea. Visit the Crocodile Farm - for that something extra.
There are several charters in the area that hire quad bikes and Jet Ski's. They also do Quad bike tours. Enjoy deep sea fishing via a hired charter - no boat cleaning afterwards!
